Even the introverts are longing for human connection.
This has been a long and wild ride as we try to navigate our new way of living. But here's the thing, you don't need to completely isolate and there are many ways to meet new people and love interests during a pandemic... even when you haven't washed your hair in a week or put a bra on.
Here are a few ways to make new friends and deepen your connections.
1. Make a list of your fav things to do and then find the people
Each month Modern Match hosts a virtual Zoom event to connect with new women. We were averaging 10 to 12 women until we shared our event on Meetup.com. This platform is amazing! If you're into knitting, there's a Meetup for knitters. If you're into fitness, there's a Meetup for health seekers. If you're into dressing up your cats, well I'm sure there's something there for you too.
2. Time blocking is a great tool
When your cat swats your hand away because he's reached his limit of back scratches, it's time for some human interaction. Just like we time block for self-care (or at least we should be), it's 100% approved to time block to connect with friends and family.
3. Find a COVID friendly gathering
Look at your community events and search for a social distance yoga class, paddle boarding lesson or anything that requires fresh air and friendships. Perhaps a painting class in the great outdoors?
Zoom classes, Facebook groups and other online platforms are great and they give us the ability to connect through video, but there is something to be said about physically being together.
Whatever method feels the best to you, just remember you're not alone. Mental health has never been such a high priority. So when you're feeling isolated, fatigued and alone, be sure to find the resources closest to you.
It's one of the many reasons we created our free monthly empower hour. It was a way to meet new friends during a pandemic and connect with one another.
