I spent years supporting women in eating clean and feeling healthy but always came up against the same question;
When can I have a cocktail?
After being a bartender in college and mixing drinks for myself and my friends. I came up with cocktail recipes that not only have less sugar but have nutrient-rich ingredients.
All the recipes use nothing but naturally low-calorie spirits; fresh juices loaded with vitamins; gentle sweeteners like honey and maple syrup; and anti-inflammatory spices like cinnamon, cayenne, and turmeric―the perfect alternative to drinks that are typically loaded with refined sugars, artificial flavors, and dyes.

Most of the ingredients in our recipes even offer health benefits, such as ginger (better digestion) or cilantro (good for detox). Some even believe that vodka boosts metabolism. We’ll drink to that!

The Day Drinker
This cocktail is sunshine in a glass. Loaded with the strong antioxidant vitamin C, fresh grapefruit juice has a limited effect on blood sugar levels, according to Harvard Medical School. We like to think of The Day Drinker as the perfect immunity booster when typhoid hits your house. You could tote this one to t-ball games but bring extra for your friends….sports moms always covet!
Recommended Barware: Rocks
❏ 1/2 lemon, cut in quarters
❏ ½ teaspoon. coconut sugar
❏ 3-4 fresh sage leaves, bruised
❏ 2 oz. gin
❏ 2 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle lemon, coconut sugar, and sage until sugar dissolves.
2. Pour gin and grapefruit juice into the mixture and shake with ice for 10 seconds.
3. Strain into a rocks glass.
4. Garnish with fresh sage and a wedge of grapefruit.
