Other than the fact that hanging eucalyptus in your shower looks super pretty and can make you feel like you are at a dreamy luxury spa, the benefits of a eucalyptus shower has health benefits as well! We are entering the season of the dreaded stuffy nose and sinus headaches and I am sure you would do anything to relieve that feeling.
Eucalyptus is an evergreen tree that is native to Australia but grows in many parts of the world and is know for its medicinal properties. It has a gum infused bark, long stems, and circular leaves that start out super green and darken as they age. The leaves themselves are not suitable for ingestion however they can be made into a tea that is safe to drink and oils are extracted from its roots, leaves and bark.
I personally love how calming and tranquil a bundle of eucalyptus looks hanging in the shower, however my husband felt it looked like the Amazon…
I am not sure he was on board with this new idea. Once the hot steam from the shower heats the leaves and releases oils from your eucalyptus bundle, you will notice you are able to breathe easier. It will help clear up your respiratory, it will help loosen congestion and will overall help you feel so much better. I personally use this year-round because I love how beautiful it smells and it helps waken my senses in the morning. If you can’t seem to get your hands on a bundle of Eucalyptus, I also love to use a few drops of essential oil on the bottom of my shower floor (out of the way of the water), it works incredibly well.
Not only is this magical plant filled with medicinal properties, but it can be used to bring a sense of peace and Zen to your shower, regardless if you are sick or not. So, call your local flower shop and grab your bundle today!
